      The one that I like to quote is that
      a. Taroo-ga kawa-de oboreta
      does not automatically imply
      b. Taroo-ga sinda.
      (p346, Second Edition).

      Perhaps, depending on the context, a better translation would be “Taroo was drowning in the river”. If you want to make sure that he really died, you could say “Taroo ga kawa-de oborezinda”.
